Privacy Policy

TapMyPet ("we", "us", "our") is a Philippines-based business that sells NFC-enabled pet tags at tapmypet.com. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and how it's protected, in line with the Philippine Data Privacy Act of 2012 (RA 10173).

1. What we collect

  • Order & shipping details: your name, email, mobile number, and delivery address, collected at checkout to fulfill your order and process payment via PayPal.
  • Account details: if you activate a tag, we create an account with your email and a password you choose (stored as a one-way hash, never in plain text).
  • Pet profile information: whatever you choose to add to your pet's public profile — name, photo, bio, medical/vet notes, and your own contact details for finders.
  • Tag scan activity: when your tag is tapped or scanned, we log the date/time and a hashed, non-reversible fingerprint of the visitor's IP address, so you can see scan activity on your dashboard without us storing anyone's raw IP.
  • Lost Mode location data: if you turn on Lost Mode and someone who finds your pet chooses to share their location, that location is relayed to you once by email and dashboard notification. We do not store the coordinates in our database — they exist only in the notification sent to you.

2. Why we collect it

Strictly to run the service you signed up for: processing and shipping orders, letting you manage your pet's public profile, showing you scan activity, and — if you enable it — relaying a finder's location so you can be reunited with a lost pet. We do not sell personal data to third parties, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Who we share it with

Only the service providers needed to run TapMyPet: PayPal (payment processing), our email/SMTP provider (transactional emails like order confirmations and Lost Mode alerts), and our hosting provider. We don't share your data with anyone else without your consent, except where required by Philippine law.

4. Your pet's public profile

Anyone who scans your tag's QR code or taps the NFC chip can view your pet's public profile page. You control what appears there — you can hide your contact address and choose whether your vet's contact is shown. Only include information you're comfortable with a stranger seeing.

5. How long we keep it

We keep account and order data for as long as your account is active, and as needed to comply with tax and accounting record-keeping requirements under Philippine law. You can request deletion of your account and associated pet profiles at any time (see Section 7).

6. Security

Passwords are hashed, not stored in plain text. Tag activation requires both a unique tag code and a PIN printed only on the physical product — never on the NFC chip itself — so a photographed or copied link alone can't be used to claim someone else's tag.

7. Your rights

Under the Data Privacy Act, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, and to object to or withdraw consent for its processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected].

8. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify account holders by email.
